It started as a couple of pictures about Finland and Finnish things, and it turned into a calendar. The Guardian asked for it. ”Share your photos and stories about living in Finland”, they said, so I did, in their series of GuardianWitness Assignments.
What follows could also be a Thanksgiving gift, a reminder of sooooo many good things in life. Ole hyvä.
It’s cold inside, so you turn on the heating. Oh no, you don’t if you live in Britain. You think of other ways of keeping warm. Like this guy on the radio: “I don’t bother with insulation any longer. I went to a mountaineering shop and got me a set of mountaineering clothes. They’re brilliant, lightweight and keep me warm. I’m single – for the time being – and don’t have to worry about incapacitating others.”
You have to hand it to him. It is a novel approach. If that was needed.
